Soodeh Farokhi, PhD.

Founder & Chief Technology Officer 

Soodeh is a visionary technology entrepreneur, Ph.D. in cloud computing, and passionate about Cloud Robotics and applying AI to enable cognitive capabilities for affordable service robots that can increase business efficiency or improve the quality life. She is an energetic and strong leader who is committed to what she believes in and enjoys solving real-world problems in a team-work. She has over 7 years of industrial experience as a tech lead, software product lead in cloud, telecom & distributed sys domains, where she technically lead two large-scale software projects. She also has six years of research background (Bachelor and Master in Software Engineering). She co-founded the first Service Oriented Architecture industrial research institute in Iran. In her doctoral research, she worked on the performance of self-adaptive cloud applications using techniques from control theory and robotics.

Patrick Roy

Software Engineering Manager

Patrick brings more than 25 years of Software Development experience at major Enterprise Software companies such as IBM, Cognos, and Paysafe. He has been fortunate to occupy roles in areas as diversified as architecture, escalation management, performance testing, application security, quality assurance, down to low-level programming. He is recognized for his initiatives and thought leadership. He is always learning new computer languages and technologies to build relevant solutions. He has recently delivered a fully automated micro service continuous delivery platform for a large enterprise. He believes in good coding practices; in the long-term benefits they bring.

Jeff McMullen

Cheif Financial Officer

Jeff brings over 15 years of experience as a CFO to C2RO. He has been involved in numerous public and private financings, acquisitions, dispositions and other transactions with a total value of over $1 billion. Jeff McMullen joined JetForm Corporation in 1994 as Controller, eventually becoming Senior VP and CFO and helped grow annual revenues to over $100 million. JetForm was acquired by Adobe in 2002. From 2002 to 2008 Jeff was a CFO consultant to a variety of venture-backed companies in the software, semiconductor and optical spaces. He then joined Irdeto, a world leader in content security, management and delivery for pay media companies. Jeff McMullen is a graduate of the School of Business of Queen’s University and is a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Professional Accountant.

Riccardo Badalone

Chief Executive Officer 

Riccardo is an entrepreneur with a track record in architecting and building early-stage companies in the enterprise cloud computing space. Most notably, he was Co-Founder and CEO of Diablo Technologies Inc., which he grew to over one hundred employees worldwide and pioneered several Cloud and Virtualization technologies including Software Defined Memory and Memory Channel Storage. His background also includes senior leadership roles at Nortel Networks and Matrox Graphics. Riccardo sits on the Advisory Board of several technology companies and is also a growth coach with District3 Innovation Center. He mentors up and coming entrepreneurs on all aspects of building a business from the ground up, in particular building early customer traction and execution planning. He has a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada.

Franco is a passionate result-driven entrepreneur who thrives on teamwork to identify the issue, and then “just get it done”. He is a multi-faceted leader with a history of strategizing and adapting to a wide range of situations, he has taken on any challenges necessary to achieve the end goal. From building up internal validation teams, contract negotiations, building highly technical sales teams and dealing directly with global customers and strategic partners, no challenge has been too great when it came to driving together towards a common goal.

Amir Haji

Computer Vision Specialist

Amir is currently a doctoral researcher at McGill University in the field of Computer vision. He has deep knowledge in intensity image gradients and angular orientation map of the level sets. This accompanied with a profound knowledge of Mathematics, Machine learning and Physics, equipped with high-end software sets and a variety of programming languages, enabled him to address some canonical problems in Computer vision. His engineering background in other hand enabled him to present the application of these theories to solve the real-world problems. 

Paul Rad, PhD

Associate Professor and Cofounder Open Cloud Institute

Paul Rad is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Texas. Prior to that, Paul has been a VP of Hybrid Cloud in Rackspace for over 13 years. He started his career as a computer architect by founding Data Processing Corp, overseas before moving to the United States, and later held product and services leadership roles at Data Concepts and Dell Inc. He has numerous published articles on enterprise solutions and holds several U.S. patents in the fields of virtualization, clustering, software engineering and quality assurance. Paul holds a Master of Computer Architecture from Sharif University and a Master of Computer Science from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Paul has been a strong supporter of connecting university and industry in order to build the future workforce.

Indranil Gupta, PhD

Professor, University of Illinois

Indranil Gupta (Indy) is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Indy leads the Distributed Protocols Research Group and the BOCCE Cloud Center in the CS Department at UIUC. He is interested in research on distributed protocols, with a specific focus on large-scale distributed systems such as data centers and cloud computing systems.

Nazli Khanbeigi

Nazli is as electrical engineer with 11 years of industrial experience. She is interested in wireless communications including information theory, channel and network coding.

Mostafa Erfani

Full Stack Software Engineer

Mostafa is a senior software engineer and entrepreneur who has extensive technical and management skills. Over fifteen years of experience, he was a technical manager, researcher, and full stack developer at Microsoft, Concordia, Evinance, and built a successful start up with growing revenue.

Aldo Vargas, PhD

Robotics Specialist

Aldo holds a PhD in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Glasgow. He is a passionate and hands-on robotics engineer and has been developing embedded software for several types of robots (ground, marine and aerial), culminating with a great reputation of open-source repositories aimed for drones. During his postdoc at the University of Oxford, he designed, built and programmed an unmanned aerial system solution for tracking pollinators. Aldo was the founder of Altax that designs, develops and manufactures advanced UAS.

Matt Smith

Senior Manager, Entrepreneur & COO at TandemLaunch Inc.

Matt started his career working with early stage technologies in 2001 with DARPA-funded work where he led and managed design of a legged robotics platform acquired by Boston Dynamics (now Google).  After a period in Core Engineering at Bombardier aerospace, he co-founded and was CEO of two startups; He has had roles in early stage companies included Product Management, VP Operations and Chief Quality Officer in life science sector startup Aurora Interactive and VP Operations in industrial hybrid clean tech company EcoPower (acquired by Mi-Jack).  As Partner & COO of TandemLaunch, he combines his passion for entrepreneurship, corporate development and deal flow with deep expertise in execution to carry out his mandate as a mentor to TandemLaunch’s promising early-stage incubated ventures.

Amin Anjomshoaa, PhD

Amin Anjomshoaa is a visiting scholar at MIT SENSEable City Lab. Before that he has been Assistant Professor at the Institute of Software Technology and Interactive Systems of Vienna University of Technology and head of the Linked Data Research Lab. His research areas include Cloud Computing, Machine Learning, Knowledge Management, Data Analytics, Semantic Web & Linked Data.

Helge Seetzen, PhD

Richard Vaughan is an associate professor at Simon Fraser University. He directs the Autonomy Lab which builds life-like machines. His research goal is to increase the autonomy of robots. His research interest is multi-robot systems and creating techniques for programming, simulating and evaluating populations of robots.

Geoffrey Fox, PhD

Distinguished Professor, Indiana University

Geoffrey Fox received a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from Cambridge University and is now professor of Computer Science, Informatics, and Physics at Indiana University. He is director of the Community Grids Laboratory of the Pervasive Technology Laboratories at Indiana University. Fox has worked in a variety of applied computer science fields with his work on computational physics evolving into contributions to parallel computing and now to Grid and multicore chip systems.  He is currently Vice President of the Open Grid Forum responsible for eScience.

    Brian is a robotics and automation expert. He has over 15 years of experience as research engineer, technical lead and product manager in industrial, mobile and space robotics. During his career, he’s worked on the validation of the Dextre space robotic arm at the Canadian Space Agency, hardware-in-the-loop simulation for electronic control unit validation at Audi and BMW and transferring grasping skills from humans to humanoid robots at ATR in Japan.
